Cute right?!
The items you will need are:
- Plain white shirt (Hobby Lobby sales these for $2.99 and with a 50% off coupon totals $1.50!)
- 1 piece of black felt and 1 piece of orange felt
- Fabric scissors and paper cutting scissors
- Hot glue gun or Fabric glue
- Print out of shapes
- Pins
First thing you'll want to do is print this picture below (by right clicking, and clicking print...) as a full page. Now cut out the shapes from the paper.
While you're cutting out your pieces, it'd probably be a good idea to plug in your hot glue gun and let it warm up. I'm very impatient when I do projects and don't like waiting!!
I suggest cutting the smaller black circles first, you'll need 6,
then lay them out on the shirt in the shape of a loving smile.
I say do the smile first because it covers the largest area of the shirt so you want to make sure it is spread out even and the top circle on each side is straight across from one another. We don't want a crooked smiling snowman! Or do we? hmmmm....
Now get your orange felt pin the nose shape to it, and cut.
Afterwards, lay it facing the way you choose on the shirt above the smile. I preffered mine to the right, but thats just me!
Get your black felt and the larger circle and cut 2. These are his eyes. Lay them on the shirt to see what it should look like when its done.
Now that you have an idea of how the pieces are going to go on your shirt, its time to get to glueing! (fyi I put a piece of cardboard in my shirt to make sure the front didn't glue to the back. It's not likely to happen, but if it were to happen to anyone, it'd be me!)
*Remember, you can use fabric glue if you want. I just like burning myself with the hot glue repeadetly, lol
Again, start with the mouth to make sure its all done nice and neat before moving on to the nose, then the eyes.
When you have all your pieces securely glued on to the shirt, place it on a hanger and stare at and admire your new creation for at least half an hour. Give yourself a pat on the back! You did it!
And...If you have twins, start all over again at Step 1.
As soon as my little rascals get home they're putting on their new shirts and I'll show you pictures. Please feel free to share pictures of your kids (or you!) in their snowman shirts! I'd love to see them!
